Ken van Assenderp Collection, 1963-2010

The collection consists primarily of correspondence and documents relating to Ken van Assenderp's involvement with Florida State University in the years since his time as a student. The Task Force Papers document Van Assenderp's service with a task force appointed to serve under Dr. Leo Sandon to assess and write the Statement of Values of the Florida State University dealing with "responsible freedom, values, and moral standard at the Florida State University". The Florida State University Research Foundation Papers consist of correspondence and documents, particularly drafts of strategic plans and background material, relating to the formation of the Foundation. The Garnet and Gold Infrastructure Papers include correspondence relating to Ken van Assenderp's attempts to set up an organization to inform prominent alumni about issues relating to the university. "Florida State At Fifty" is a draft of a history of Florida State University since its coeducational transition in 1947. The Oral History Papers include an oral history given by Van Assenderp when interviewed by Robin Sellers for Florida State's Oral History Program. The FSU Supercomputing Papers consist of correspondence, documents, and newspaper clippings relating to supercomputing initiatives at Florida State. The Presidential Search Papers contain correspondence relating to Florida State University's presidential search in 2009. Also included in the collection are correspondence between Ken van Assenderp and longtime Florida State football coach, Bobby Bowden. The Forward Tallahassee Papers contain correspondence and documents relating to Forward Tallahassee, a community organization formed to encourage local economic and cultural development. Finally, the Miscellaneous Papers in the collection include correspondence and documents (as well as one photograph) of a wide variety concerning Ken van Assenderp's relationship with Florida State University.
