The collection includes correspondence, publications, service records, diaries, memorabilia, articles, research notes, speeches, genealogical information, photographs, and scrapbooks created or collected by Carlton J. Corliss. The majority of the papers are related to railroads, various railway companies that Corliss worked for, and publications about railroads. Topics include the Florida East Coast Railway, the Illinois Central Railroad Company, the Association of American Railroads, Abraham Lincoln, Florida, public relations, and his book, MAIN LINE OF MID-AMERICA. The collection also includes some writings of Robert S. Chilton from his service in the State Department.

The collection consists of materials depicting the role of Mary Brickell as one of the "founding mothers" of the city of Miami, Florida. Documents detail her work as a landowner and real estate developer. The materials balance the personal and professional lives of Mary Brickell and her descendants. The collection demonstrates the growth and shaping of Miami, from the founding documents establishing the city of Miami to modern day developments in the Brickell area. The collection also documents the work of local Miami historian Carmen Petsoules and her efforts to revive public awareness of Mary Brickell and have her officially recognized as one of the founders of the city of Miami. The collection includes appraisal reports, architectural plans, bills, estate records, leases, maps, newspaper clippings, personal papers, photographs, property records, research materials, scrapbooks, silverware, tax records, warranty deeds, and wills.

This collection relates to Henry John Perner drafted into the U.S. Army in 1940 and served with the 42nd Infantry Regiment of the 9th Division. He was captured in Tunisia in 1943 and held a prisoner of war in Italy and later in Stalag IIB. The collection primarily consists of letters, telegrams, and informational booklets related to his POW experience.

Mrs. Hagan or Rebecca Egan donation

This collection consists of a true copy of a certificate and opinion of title to the Mrs. Hagan (or Rebecca Egan) donation containing 620 66/100 acres, and embracing all of that portion of the City of Miami lying south of the Miami River. Also copies of an abstract of title of said donation from the Dade County records. The copy is printed and verified from the original, which is in the possession of Mary Brickell. Appended to this item is a copy of a certificate to the effect that the title to said donation, except ten acres known as the Fletcher Tract, and except those portions of said donation sold by Mary Brickell from time to time prior to and since June 6th, 1896, vests in the said Mary Brickell, and that the same is free of clouds or incumbrances of record, which covers that period of time from June 6th, 1896, to January 15, 1907.
