Florida State University Omicron Delta Kappa Records, 1950-2007, bulk 1974-2003

The Omicron Delta Kappa Records collection consists of administrative records for the Florida State University Seminole Circle of ODK. These include meeting minutes, alumni records and lists, various correspondence and programs and photographs from tapping and initiation ceremonies throughout the years. Of interest is the initiates register dating to the foundation of the circle. This register contains the signatures of all initiates from 1950 to 2007. A large segment of the collection is dedicated to the Grads Made Good breakfast held during homecoming week. This section of records includes correspondence, nomination requests, congratulations letters, selection procedures, and the speech notes of Dr. Stephen S. Winters. Of note are the large number of yearly pamphlets and photographs of the awards breakfast itself. Most records for this collection fall between the years of 1974 and 2006. Earlier records are scant, with only the initiates register and a handful of clippings accounting for those years between 1950 and 1974.

The collection was given by Reubin O'Donovan Askew in 2008. It contains materials related to his time serving in the Florida House of Representatives, Florida State Senate, and as Governor of Florida.  Included in the collection are campaign files, correspondence, newspaper articles, photographs, audiovisual materials, memorabilia, and copies of speeches. Additionally, there are records documenting his 1988 Presidential bid, as well as other materials relating to his life after his service as a Florida public official. Also included in the collection are the personal papers of his wife, Donna Lou Harper Askew.

Reubin Askew Student Memorabilia, circa 1947, 1950-1951

The Reubin Askew Student Memorabilia documents his activities as a student in the late 1940s and as president of Florida State University's Student Government Association in 1951. Includes an FSU Student Honor Code pamphlet, "Honorbound," Askew's student government presidential campaign paper insert for badge, on which is written "Vote for Rube Askew for President U.G.A," and his Freshman Beanie, on which his nickname "Rube" is stitched.

Reubin O'Donovan Askew papers, 1943-1946

This collection centers around one Florida State Guard soldier, and an American soldier stationed at the Technical School and Basic Training Center for the Air Force in Gulfport Field, Mississippi. The collection includes a child's drawing, two letters written to the soldier's mother outlining Air Force training and daily life, a newspaper clipping written about the Florida State Guard drills, a letter about D-Day, and photographs of a B-26 Marauder, an American flight crew, an American and Russian soldier, and Yontan Airfield in Okinawa, and their corresponding modern negatives.
