Allen Morris Papers, 1861-1970

The Allen Morris Papers consist of personal and professional records and research materials accumulated by Mr. Morris over a period of about forty-one years. The papers consist of correspondence; biographical sketches of Florida officials and other famous Floridians; photographs, programs, and other materials related to the Allen Morris Legislative Awards; historical data concerning place names, historical houses, rivers and river boats. Also included is a complete file of "Cracker Politics," the column that Allen Morris was responsible for writing for so many years, as well as notes and materials compiled and used in the creation of the Florida Handbook. A large portion of the collection is made up of papers, letters, and notes relating to important figures such as governors, state legislators and other Florida politicians. Also included are books and manuscripts written by Allen Morris and books and pamphlets written by others. Includes MSS 75-11.

Doak S. Campbell Papers, 1935-1972, 1935-1972

This collection contains materials related to the life and career of Doak Sheridan Campbell. It includes biographical sketches of Dr. Campbell, newspaper clippings about Campbell and Florida State University, speeches, personal correspondence, some of which relate information about the Campbell family history. Other persons and topics mentioned in the collection include: Florida Governors LeRoy Collins and Claude Kirk, Campbell's book, A University in Transition, educational materials including projects, programs and correspondence related to various educational institutions, boards and commissions in Florida and Georgia, the Georgia Peabody College for Teachers, Appalachian State Teachers College, Mar-A-Largo, Campbell's work with the Baptist Church, local and state correspondence with the Southern Baptist Convention, First Baptist Church of Tallahassee, Baptists in Florida and Kentucky, Stetson University, Campbell's civil and fraternal affiliations including Civil Defense, Free and Accepted Masons and the Rotary Club.

Florida State University Omicron Delta Kappa Records, 1950-2007, bulk 1974-2003

The Omicron Delta Kappa Records collection consists of administrative records for the Florida State University Seminole Circle of ODK. These include meeting minutes, alumni records and lists, various correspondence and programs and photographs from tapping and initiation ceremonies throughout the years. Of interest is the initiates register dating to the foundation of the circle. This register contains the signatures of all initiates from 1950 to 2007. A large segment of the collection is dedicated to the Grads Made Good breakfast held during homecoming week. This section of records includes correspondence, nomination requests, congratulations letters, selection procedures, and the speech notes of Dr. Stephen S. Winters. Of note are the large number of yearly pamphlets and photographs of the awards breakfast itself. Most records for this collection fall between the years of 1974 and 2006. Earlier records are scant, with only the initiates register and a handful of clippings accounting for those years between 1950 and 1974.

LeRoy Collins Letters, 1966-1968

This collection consists of letters from LeRoy Collins to Dr. Daisy Parker. Among the subjects mentioned are Judge Taylor and Parker's campaign assistance. The fifth item in the collection is a copy of a letter to Malcolm Johnson that was enclosed in a 1968 letter to Dr. Parker.

Malcolm Johnson Collection, 1824-1984, n.d.

The bulk of the Malcolm Johnson Collection documents Johnson's journalistic career from his time with the Associated Press from 1940-1954 to his editorship of the Tallahassee Democrat from 1954-1970. The collection includes correspondence, subject and personality files, clippings of Johnson's columns and editorials, photographs, speeches written by Johnson, memorabilia, and various published materials collected by Johnson over his career. In addition, there are materials related to the writing and publication of Johnson's books I Declare and Red, White and Bluebloods in Frontier Florida, such as research materials, photographs, drafts and proofs.
