Allen Morris Papers, 1861-1970

The Allen Morris Papers consist of personal and professional records and research materials accumulated by Mr. Morris over a period of about forty-one years. The papers consist of correspondence; biographical sketches of Florida officials and other famous Floridians; photographs, programs, and other materials related to the Allen Morris Legislative Awards; historical data concerning place names, historical houses, rivers and river boats. Also included is a complete file of "Cracker Politics," the column that Allen Morris was responsible for writing for so many years, as well as notes and materials compiled and used in the creation of the Florida Handbook. A large portion of the collection is made up of papers, letters, and notes relating to important figures such as governors, state legislators and other Florida politicians. Also included are books and manuscripts written by Allen Morris and books and pamphlets written by others. Includes MSS 75-11.

Malcolm Johnson Collection, 1824-1984, n.d.

The bulk of the Malcolm Johnson Collection documents Johnson's journalistic career from his time with the Associated Press from 1940-1954 to his editorship of the Tallahassee Democrat from 1954-1970. The collection includes correspondence, subject and personality files, clippings of Johnson's columns and editorials, photographs, speeches written by Johnson, memorabilia, and various published materials collected by Johnson over his career. In addition, there are materials related to the writing and publication of Johnson's books I Declare and Red, White and Bluebloods in Frontier Florida, such as research materials, photographs, drafts and proofs.

Spessard Lindsey Holland Papers, 1892-1971

The Spessard Lindsey Holland collection consists primarily of the personal correspondence, photographs, campaign materials, individual files, Floridiana, and memorabilia such as various awards and certificates, plaques, and miscellaneous novelty items. The collection has materials dated from the 1890s to the early 1970s with the majority of the collection dated after the 1930s. Biographical materials on the former Governor and U.S. Senator can be found in this collection as well as various papers and correspondence during his terms in both of these offices. Also included are speeches, tax records, recordings and photographs, presentations, memberships, Holland Family papers and correspondence, as well as over 170 books that belonged to the Hollands.

Wayne Mixson transcript, 1999

The collection of Wayne Mixson contains an oral history transcript of an interview provided by the Reichelt Program for Oral History. Mixson, who would later serve as the 39th Governor of Florida, served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946 and participated in the Lighter-Than-Air Project; he worked with a crew in EP Squadron 14, a blimp squadron.
