Professional and personal papers of Francois Bucher (1927-1999), professor of Art History (1978-1996), including correspondence, instructional materials, artwork, research materials, and scholarly works. Significant correspondents include William S. Burroughs, Brion Gysin, Paul Sharits, and Kurt Vonnegut. The collection includes works by Sinclair Beiles, Bucher and Burroughs. Subjects include Bucher's academic career at University of Minnesota, Yale University, Brown University, State University of New York-Binghamton, and Florida State University; Junction B and the Nautilus Foundation in Lloyd, Florida; and Bucher's novel Ein Strahlendes End (A Small Accident).

This addition to the Dr. Mark F. Boyd Collection consists chiefly of items relating to the duties and activities of Don Juan Joseph de la Puente, St. Augustine, Florida, who, in 1772, was appointed Auditor of Accounts of the Royal Coffers for the Windward Islands, Province of Florida, Louisiana, Yucatan, Campeche, etc., but as other subjects are embraced, the papers have been separated and filed according to main subjects and envelopes and packages are labeled as such.

Business, personal, family and military papers, correspondence, orders, bills, pictures, publications, engineering diagrams and blueprints. This collection contains the business papers of John S. Winthrop and Mrs. Susan Winthrop, including correspondence, plantation records, bills, orders, mortgages, tax information and bookkeeping records. There are also personal and family papers of the Winthrop family, including pictures of persons such as Sindey Alder and members of the Winthrop family, as well as the military papers for Captain Guy L. Winthrop. The collection contains a set of eight blueprints and designs, the business papers of Francis B. Winthrop, and a map of Burrow Hill Place. Information about the Winthrop Family Tree is on four photocopied sheets as follows: 1. Adam Winthrop, Levenham, Suffolk in 1498, to Guy Louis, died 1963. 2. Smith-Armistead-Winthrop. Nathaniel Smith, born 1788, to John Still Winthrop, died 1862. 3. Rogers-Winthrop-Bell. Nehemiah Rogers, born 1718, to Guy Louis, died 1963. 4. Nathaniel Marston, 1697, to Evelyn Susan Armistead, 1846. Includes MSS 0-267, MSS 1-04 and MSS 79-6.

Collection consists of the following: 1. 1620-1646. Prospectus (broadside) "Of Plimoth Plantation," by William Bradford, Governor, who wrote a detailed history of the early years of Plymouth Colony. He covers in great detail everything that happened from the landing of the Mayflower in December, 1620, through the year 1646. 2. 1804. Newspaper. 'New England Palladium,' Boston, Tuesday, November 27, 1804. No. 43, Vol. 24. The four-page issue is a good example of a New England newspaper format of the period. 3. 1840. Alabama. U.S.A. Land Grant No. 12009. Signed by Martin Van Buren, President, and issued to Allen Masengale of Madison County, Alabama. It covers land in the Huntsville, Alabama district.

Dr. Mark F. Boyd Collection, 1635-1843

Collection consists mainly of photocopies of original manuscripts in Spanish from Archivos General de Indias, Sevilla, Spain. There are a few translations in Spanish and English in holograph, a few typed copies of the translations and transcription, plus some holograph notes and typed pages of the manuscript by Dr. Boyd. These, the microfilm rolls, and other items that are included in the gift by Dr. Boyd are packed in separate envelopes, boxes and other containers.

Cahier Rouge by Lucile Duplessis Desmoulins (red homemade manuscript book/diary by Duplessis, wife of Camille Desmoulins, undated); manuscript letter from General Arthur Dillon to Camille Desmoulins (1793); a small collection relating to General Arthur Dillon's regiment before, during and after the French Revolution (1702-1847); unbound pamphlets including Desmoulins' Le Vieux Cordelier (1793), Desmoulins' Lettre de Camille Desmoulins (1793), and Observations due Comte De Lally-Tolendal Sur La Letre Erite Par M Le Comte De Mirabeau (1789); and an extra-illustrated copy of the English translation of Claretie's biography, Camille Desmoulins and His Wife (1876).
