Women's History Month (Jacksonville, Fla.) Collection, 1986-2009

Women's History Month (March) is celebrated annually in Jacksonville, Florida with a number of special activities, including the publication of a commemorative poster and other printed materials issued by the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women. The posters honor three or four local women for their outstanding contributions to the Jacksonville community. This collection consists of twenty-three framed posters since their inception in 1986 to 2009, and other printed materials, including bookmarks, newsletters and newsclippings relating to Women's History Month activities in Jacksonville. Four photographs of the 2005 Annual Breakfast are also included. The bulk of the collection are framed posters; other printed materials are mixed for each year. The framed posters can be viewed on the third floor of the Library.

Women's March Collection, 2017

The Woman's March Collection contains realia and ephemera donated by members of Florida Atlantic University and the wider community who were affiliated with the 2017 Women's March/ Women's March on Washington. The primary focus of the 2017 Women's March, held on January 21, 2017, was to promote legislative action for human rights; including women's rights, LGBT rights, the natural environment, immigration reform, racial equality and freedom of religion. The March was also a dynamic protest against the election and inauguration of the 45th President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. Collection items include buttons, t-shirts, placards, 'pussy hats', and various items associated with the March and sister marches that took place concurrently, but particular to those held in Florida.

The collection consists of subject files which chronicle the group's activities and development from 1979-1994. Materials include primarily correspondence, minutes and agendas of meetings, awards recognition, event planning, event programs and membership lists. Eight photographs from the group's 1984-85 awards luncheon are also included.

World War I and II Papers, 1918-1945, bulk 1918, 1945

This collection consists of two groups of items. There are three army regulations post cards dated "Somewhere in France," which are acknowledgement of thanks from soldiers at the front, and they are addressed to Miss C. Tracey at Erie, Pennsylvania, 1918. The other part of this collection is a newspaper, The Stars and Stripes, dated Tuesday, May 8, 1945, with headlines "Nazis Quit." With the newspaper are two arm bands of the Nazi armed forces, one red and black and one black on yellow.

This collection pertains to Corporal Wrightson Ely Clinton Sr., who served in the 116th Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army National Guard's 31st Infantry Division. He served in the Netherland East Indies and the Philippines from 1944 to 1945 as a clerk of the Battery.

This collection contains materials related to the publications and works of Wyatt Blassingame. Included are: For better or worse, 1951; manuscript entitled, In another country; The golden geyser, 1961, with a section written for Reader's Digest; The golden geyser, edited typescript; Halo of spears, 1962; Live from the devil, 1959, editor's copy with layout and notes; Medical corps heroes of World War II, 1969, galley sheets; Medical corps heroes of World War II, manuscript, first draft, notebook. There are also letters in the collection about Medical Corps heroes of World War II. They are sent to Random House, to and from the editor. Some letters are from the 92nd and 93rd Division of Emory Doctors. Some are copies of service publications, such as a photocopy of The Medical Department: medical service in the Mediterranean and minor theaters, by Charles M. Wiltze.
