Manuscript letter written Feb. 6, 1865 "On the lines near Richmond" to Mrs. M.S. Wood from her husband; written on both sides, 2 sheets are both torn into 4 pieces by wear; letter in poor condition, faded, discolored, and badly worn. Also known as MSS 0-271.

World War I and II Papers, 1918-1945, bulk 1918, 1945

This collection consists of two groups of items. There are three army regulations post cards dated "Somewhere in France," which are acknowledgement of thanks from soldiers at the front, and they are addressed to Miss C. Tracey at Erie, Pennsylvania, 1918. The other part of this collection is a newspaper, The Stars and Stripes, dated Tuesday, May 8, 1945, with headlines "Nazis Quit." With the newspaper are two arm bands of the Nazi armed forces, one red and black and one black on yellow.

This collection pertains to Corporal Wrightson Ely Clinton Sr., who served in the 116th Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army National Guard's 31st Infantry Division. He served in the Netherland East Indies and the Philippines from 1944 to 1945 as a clerk of the Battery.

This collection contains materials related to the publications and works of Wyatt Blassingame. Included are: For better or worse, 1951; manuscript entitled, In another country; The golden geyser, 1961, with a section written for Reader's Digest; The golden geyser, edited typescript; Halo of spears, 1962; Live from the devil, 1959, editor's copy with layout and notes; Medical corps heroes of World War II, 1969, galley sheets; Medical corps heroes of World War II, manuscript, first draft, notebook. There are also letters in the collection about Medical Corps heroes of World War II. They are sent to Random House, to and from the editor. Some letters are from the 92nd and 93rd Division of Emory Doctors. Some are copies of service publications, such as a photocopy of The Medical Department: medical service in the Mediterranean and minor theaters, by Charles M. Wiltze.

Wyman Daniel Martin collection, 1936-1946

The Wyman Daniel Martin collection contains personal artifacts and ephemera from Martin's time as a middle school student before the outbreak of war and as a dorsal gunner on a B-17 bomber before being killed in action above Holland. These objects include photographs of Martin and the crew of his bomber the "Sky Queen", his various medals which include an engraved Purple Heart, a narrative written by a surviving crewman regarding his final mission, and official documents regarding his internment in Arlington National Cemetary.

Yiskor bikher, or Memorial Books, were written after the Holocaust by survivors. The purpose of these books was to document the shtetls (Jewish villages of Central and Eastern Europe) that were destroyed and record the names of those Jews killed by Nazis or Nazi sympathizers. Yiskor books are a source of valuable information about life in Jewish towns before the Holocaust and for genealogical research. These books may contain biographies, photographs, maps and other items of historical interest. Most of these books are in Hebrew or Yiddish; please be aware that transliteration or translation services are not available. Photocopies or electronic scans may be requested, but may not be ready the same day. When requesting information by email, please give variable spellings.

Yonge Family Papers, 1781-1934

Correspondence, legal papers and business records, 1781‑1934.  With files of the Pensacola Land Company, established in 1835, legal drafts and notes of Chandler Cox Yonge (1818‑1889), and correspondence of his son, Philip Keyes Yonge (1850‑1934), prominent lawyer, educator and businessman.  The emphasis of the collection is on land speculation in Territorial Florida, and contains numerous maps and legal papers pertaining to land titles in East and West Florida.
