Site/historical notes, manuscripts, reports, papers, theses, photographs, letters, maps and illustrations relating to Jones' archaeological research, primarily in northeast Florida. His documentation and research refers to: Big Talbot Island, Camp Finegan,Cedar Point, Florida Ballast, Fort Diego, Fort Fulton, Fort George Island, Fort Heileman, Greenfield - Robert C. Maxey Plantation, John Hewitt Mill Site, Little Talbot Island shipwreck site, Old Gravelly Hill, St. Johns Bluff, San Juan del Puerto Mission, and Twenty Mile Station.

Scope and Content:

Site/historical notes, manuscripts, reports, papers, theses, photographs, letters, maps and illustrations relating to Jones' archaeological research, primarily in northeast Florida. His documentation and research refers to: Big Talbot Island, Camp Finegan,Cedar Point, Florida Ballast, Fort Diego, Fort Fulton, Fort George Island, Fort Heileman, Greenfield - Robert C. Maxey Plantation, John Hewitt Mill Site, Little Talbot Island shipwreck site, Old Gravelly Hill, St. Johns Bluff, San Juan del Puerto Mission, and Twenty Mile Station. Printed materials, chiefly subject files on archaeological sites, form the majority of the collection. Research on water mills and sawmills are also presented in the collection. A collection strength is the rare nature of the material, containing original sources unavailable elsewhere.

Biographical / Historical:

William M. Jones, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, performed extensive historical research on archaeological sites in northeast Florida from 1952 to 1993.
